Filling Out a AGC Horticulture Entry Card
1) Exhibitor’s name and date. Fold the card so that your name is not visible.
2) Class Number and Name from your handbook, e.g., IV, Roses.
3) Genus / Species
First enter the Latin BINOMIAL name (consisting of the Genus and then Species (if appropriate). The Genus name always begins with a capital letter and the species name always begins with a lower-case letter. e.g., Rosa rugosa.
4) Variety or Cultivar
If your entry is a Variety write it on the next line, e.g., Rosa rugosa var alba. If, instead, your entry is a Cultivar write the name of the Cultivar on that next line enclosed in single quotes and beginning with a capital letter, e.g., Rosa rugosa ‘Scabrosa.’ For some hybrid plants of undetermined species, the names of the Genus and Cultivar qualify as the scientific name, e.g., Rosa ‘The Fairy’.
5) Common Name
Write the common names of the exhibit, e.g., Rose.

2) Theme /Name
Write the Design Theme Name from your handbook, e.g., “Wedding Reception”
3) Requirements
Use the Design Theme description from your handbook, e.g., “Mass Design using white flowers”.
4) Materials Used
Write the botanical and/or common names of all plant material used in the arrangement on the tag.
If you are uncertain of any of the above, ask the Design Chair for assistance.
